    Christmas is the prominent festival of Christians. It is celebrated all around the world on 25th December. Christmas is well known as a Christian holiday in the month of December. It is commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. He is the prime mover of the christianity. The Christians consider him as the son of god. Jesus was born in Bethlehem. When Joseph and marry entered the city, the inn had no rooms left empty and so they were offered an stable (rack for fodder) where Christ was born.

    Although the date of birth is unknown, the church in the fourth century fixed it as December 25th. This relates to the date of the winter solstice on the Roman calendar. Most of the Christians celebrate it on December 25th in the Gregorian calendar which was adopted by everyone without any exception in the civil calendars used throughout the world. However, part of the Eastern Christian Churches celebrate it on January 7. For Christians, believing that the god has come in the form of man to push away all the sins rather than knowing the accurate birth date of Jesus.

    It is an annual festival marking Jesus Christ’s birth. It is religious and cultural celebration observed by the people on 25th December. But, there are differences that each nation celebrates this festival. The first Christmas was celebrated in 336 A.D in Rome. In the early 1900s, the Oxford movement of Anglican communion church started and this led to the revival of the Christmas.

    CHRISTMAS PREPARATIONS

    The preparations for the Christmas begin early for most of the people so that the celebrations start on the Christmas Eve. It includes a lot of activities, people usually buy decorations, food, and gifts for some of the children in their family. Some families shop for matching Christmas outfits for everyone. The families plan to travel and stay connected. People usually spend a lot on Christmas Eve so they start saving from the earliest.

    Presents are wrapped in the gift boxes and are placed under the Christmas tree which are not opened until the Christmas Day. Thorough cleaning is done in the churches and are decorated so well.
