Reply To: What are Tsunamis?

When a large mass of water is displaced, a tsunami occurs. It majorly occurs because of the underseas earthquakes or sometimes due to volcanic eruption near the large water bodies.

Tsunamis travels at a high speed o around 500 to 1000 km/h. Its speed increases and it's and it's height increases as it start coming near to the coastal areas.

When a tsunami wave reaches the coast or the shore, it appears as a huge wall of water. The fast moving wave can destroy the whole area in which it enters like building, roads, houses, etc basically the whole civilization of a certain area by its tidal energy and speed.

Great loss of life and property is caused due to tsunamis. Tsunamis are not frequent but they can occur at any point and in any time of the year. They can cause a large amount of destruction and till now there is no solid safety method to prevent it.
