Reply To: What is an Eclipse?

Eclipse occurs mainly when one light source (sun) and two spacial objects (earth, moon)comes in a line so that the shadow of one of the bodies completely or fully hides the other body. According to NASA and other major space research organizations, eclipse is generally categorised into two.

1 . Solar Eclipse

2. Lunar Eclipse

Solar eclipse occurs when the light from the sun gets blocked by the moon and due to this sun is hidden from the view during daytime. This happens when moon comes between the earth and sun in a same line.

Lunar eclipse occurs when the light from the sun is blocked by the earth and the shadow of the earth hides the moon from view. This happens due when earth comes between the sun and moon in a same line.

Some scientists divides eclipses again into full, partial and hybrid.
