Reply To: What is Mechanical energy? To what forms can it be converted and how?

Mechanical energy can be termed as the sum total of kinetic as well as potential energy. Any object that mechanical energy, weather in the form of kinetic energy or in the form of potential energy is able to do work. To be frank, mechanical energy makes necessary energy to a work. It is the energy associated with motion. Mechanical energy can be classified into two . Mechanical energy associated with movement( kinetic energy) and mechanical energy associated with stationary objects( potential energy). All other energy forms can be classified as potential energy or as kinetic energy. The law of conservation energy states that energy can be converted from one form to another but there will not be any loss or gain of energy. The amount of energy remains constant. Mechanical energy can be converted into many other forms. Mechanical energy can be converted into heat energy, sound energy, light energy etc. An example of conversion of mechanical energy into heat energy is the heat produced in a rolling car tyre. An example for conversion of mechanical energy into sound energy is the thud sound produced when an object falls from a height. An example of conversion of mechanical energy into light energy is the formation of spark when two stones are collided together.
