    Rabindranath Tagore

    Rabindranath Tagore is a great Indian poet, author, novelist, lyricist and painter. He is called as “kobiguru”, or “Biswakobi”.He is becoming the main representer of the culture of India. He was born at 7 th may 1861 at kolkata’s Jorashako. He is born in a famous elite zamindar family. His grandfather Dwarakanath Tagore was the main founder of Brahma somaj with Raja Ram Mohan Roy, they fought for the prevention of “Sati Daha pratha”. His father name is Debendranath Tagore, is is a human activist and barrister, and his mother name was Sarada devi. From his childhood Tagore very is different from other, he didn’t like the barrier and regulations of schools, so he ended up taking private education at his home. He learn science, philosophy, literature, painting etc. He is devoted to poetry from a very young age, at the age of sixteen he wrote his first poem Bhanusiᚃha. At his early teenage he went abroad for study. He married to Mrinalini Devi on 1883,his wife become his true supporter and strength,they have 5 children together,unfortunately she died at a very young age.His contribution to the bengali literature is remarkable, his notable works are Gitanjali, Gora, Chitrangada, Chandalika, Ghore-Baire, Nastanir and many more. Tagore was become the first non european who won noble prize for his poetry book “Gitanjali”.He also give his ” Knighthood ” for the barbaric “Jalianwala Bag” incident on 1919. He is also the founder of Rakhi festival as a symbol of solidarity between Hindu and Muslim. Tagore is also the first person who wrote two country’s National anthem, “Jana Gana mana” is the national anthem of India and “Amar sonar bangla” is the national anthem of Bangladesh. His contribution towards the literature will never be forgotten. This legendary figure passed away at the age of 80 on 7 August, 1945.
