Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi , who was otherwise known as Gandhiji is considered as the father of our nation. He stood against the exploitation of British colonial rule in pre independent India. He was born on Porbanthar, a city in Gujarath. He was born as the son of Karamchand Gandhi and Putli Bhai. He was often a shy boy during his school days . After his school education he went under University of London to obtain graduation in law. But he became involved in the problems of people during his life at South Africa where he experienced the horrifying levels of racial abuse towards Indians and other Asians. It was on his stay at South Africa, he was named as Mahatma , meaning the great. He came to India and started strategic tactical movements of peace against British rules. He was arrested many times , experienced tortures aimed at his withdrawal from protests. His Satyagrahas was a movement which considered peace as its way of achievement . His struggles for freedom movement inspired millions of suppressed Indians all around the nation. Non co operation movement was ignited by Gandhi. It was a blow on foreign intrusion in India. After gaining independence , he was not able to experience the freedom he struggled for long. He was shot dead by a terrorist , anti -Gandhian called Naduram Vinayak Godse through three bullets from close range.
