Sardar Vallabhai Patel also known as “The Iron Man of India” was born in a small village in Gujarat, Nadiad. He was born on October 31, 1875. Sardar Vallabhai Patel was born into the Leuva Patel Patidar Community that lived in a town.
Sardar Vallabhai Patel’s true name is Vallabhai Jhaverbhai Patel. People began referring to him as Sardar Vallabhai Patel later on. He was brave and courageous since his childhood. His father Zaverbhai Patel, served in the Queen of Jhansi’s army. Ladbai, his mother, had a spiritual bent. He once told a story about how he cured a severe boil. With a hot iron rod, he did it without a doubt.
Everyone who knew him assumed he would perform ordinary tasks. This was because he finished his matriculation at the age of twenty-two. When he pursued his schooling, however, he proved everyone incorrect. He continued his schooling by studying to become a lawyer. Sardar Vallabhai Patel went to England to study law. He returned to his own country after a few years and started his career in Ahmedabad.
In October 1917, he met Mahatma Gandhi and began his path for Indian independence. As a result, he began his career in India’s political arena. After joining the Indian National Congress, he became involved in the Gujarat Satyagraha campaign ( INC). Sardar Vallabhai Patel was the first to join a campaign against British brutality.
Following Satyagraha, he took part in several agitations. As a result, he became closer to Gandhi. During the war for independence, he made several contributions. He was imprisoned multiple times as a result of his aggressive activity. Even though he had been imprisoned several times, he remained committed to his goal. The fundamental reason for Patel was to drive the British out of India. He had a great sense of patriotism for his nation.
Sardar Vallabhai Patel was a self-motivated and self-assured individual. He fulfilled all of his professional tasks with little to no assistance from others. Sardar Vallabhai Patel was one of the persons who helped bring the country’s people together. He gave people the power to confront the British authority.
One of the reasons he is known as India’s Iron Man is that he adhered to the Unity ideal. His faith in unity was so powerful that he rallied people to fight beside him. He has powerful and enticing leadership abilities. Sardar Vallabhai Patel was one of the rare leaders who could make an emotional connection with the people.
After India gained independence, he continued to contribute to the country’s political landscape. One of his most major accomplishments was the country’s integration. He visited the length and breadth of the country, pushing the One India, One Nation agenda. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was India’s first Home Minister.
He then rose through the ranks to become the country’s First Deputy Prime Minister. In 1991, he received the Bharat Ratna award. He died on 15 December 1950 in Mumbai.
