Earthquake is the one of the most dangerous natural calamities. Any sudden shaking of the ground caused by the passage of seismic waves through the earth’s rocks. Earthquakes caused by a sudden release of violent gorund energy caused either by the shifting of the earth’s crust or magnetic activity.

A Body of rock that is under stress becomes deformed. When the rock no longer withstand the deformation, it breaks and the two sides past each other.

Earthquakes is very dangerous. Its damage to a man – made structure as well as an outbreak of fire and spilling of hazardous chemicals. Earthquakes are among the most natural hazards. They strike without warning and many of the earthquakes zones coincided with areas of high population density. When large earthquakes occur in such areas the results can be catastrophic, with terrible loss of human lives and untold economic cost.

There are many causes of earthquake.

    1) Earthquake caused due to sudden lateral or vertical movements in the crust of the earth

    2) It caused by human activity, like tunnel construction, filling reservoirs and implementing geothermal or fracking projects.

    3) Earthquakes are caused by the sudden release of stress along faults in the earth crust. Continuous motion of the tectonic plates causes the steady build of pressure in the rock strata on both sides of the fault until stress is great enough, which is released in jerky and sudden movement.
