We convey our considerations, thoughts, plans, and idea to others through both, verbal and nonverbal communication. Verbal and nonverbal communication in people is the result of many years of preparing and idealizing the specialty of communication.

Verbal communication comprises of is sending messages across using sound, words, and dialects, while nonverbal communication includes implied things like movements of the eye, tone, and body language. Consider everything: When a person is lying it is obviously visible in the eye of the person, one can understand the nervousness of a person from shaking of his/her hands or legs, and if a person is happy, happiness is easily understood from the tone of the person which he/she uses when speaking. Both verbal and nonverbal communication simultaneously is used by a person when he/she is talking to someone face-face.

Some forms of verbal communication can be written as well as oral communication. Few examples of this are: Letters, Texting, Emailing, etc. are examples of written communication. Face-to-face conversations, Speech, Radio are examples of oral communication.

One of the main forms of nonverbal communication is body language as one conveys a message through body gestures. Few examples of this are: When a person is trying to cover his/her mouth that can be a sign or gesture used to hide a smile or frown.

When a person is trying to nod his/her head while talking to someone that can be a gesture of agreement.

When a person is standing with arms crossed over their chest that can be a gesture indicating defensiveness or stress.

Verbal communication is considered to be a conscious process as it involves the process of thinking, processing, and articulating. While nonverbal communication is considered to be an unconscious process as one doesn’t really need to think about it actively.

A single channel of communication is used by Verbal communication, that is the human voice, which tends to speaks a single word at a time. While on the other hand, nonverbal communication uses multiple channels of communication it includes our entire body, tone of voice, and facial expressions.
