Dowry system is being acted as a curse to the whole nation. With an increase in times, everything has been improved except the dowry system. This has been the curse to many families. Though dowry has been declared illegal according to the law but indeed it has not stopped. The boy and family, especially in arranged marriage, demand the dowry in order to get married. Henceforth, it is not seen or realized by the boy’s family that whether that much dowry can be given by girl’s father or not. There exist many cases in which the marriage is left by the boy on the marriage day because the girl’s family cannot fulfil their demands.

The cases has been extended upto such situation that the girl is being tortured by their in laws because of not fulfilling the demands of dowry. The girls are not tortured emotionally but also physically. They are being slapped, burnt, even killed for dowry. The father of the girl not only gives his girl but also his lifetime earned savings in the marriage.

Noone understands until the situation is being faced by themselves. It is a humble request that people should treat their daughter in law as their own daughter. This is a very shameful act because girls face such things and are helpless in these situations.These are the reasons why people don’t want girl child, not everyone is that strong to face such kind of tortures and they lost their daughters.
