Sarojini Naidu was an Indian poet and liberation activist. Because of the lovely poetry she produced, she is renowned as the ‘Nightingale of India.

Sarojini Naidu was up in a home where her father was the dean of a Hyderabad college and her mother was a poet. She went to King’s College in London and Girton College in Cambridge to study. Bengal was partitioned in 1905 for administrative purposes.

She became a member of the independence movement. During the liberation fight, she met Rabindranath Tagore, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, and Mahatma Gandhi. She then traveled around India, giving talks on women’s rights, nationalism, and social welfare. She was the recipient of several accolades, including the Kaiser e Hind medal, which she returned after the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy.

Sarojini Naidu became the Indian National Congress’s second female president. Her devotion to her nation and people made her a popular figure in the public eye.

She is a key figure in movements like the Civil Disobedience Movement and the Quit India Movement, and she has been detained several times. Nothing, however, could make her lose her passion for the country. She was the first woman governor in our country when she became the Governor of Uttar Pradesh.

Today, she is remembered mostly as a poet. Her poetry was praised by politicians, statesmen, and poets from all around the world. One of her most well-known poems is “In the Bazaars of Hyderabad.”

Rabindranath Tagore continues to be an inspiration to all women. She never allowed anything to become a source of weakness, and she accomplished all she set out to do as a woman. She gave women authority and created a precedent that is still followed today.
