Siddha medicine is a traditional healing system of India and is considered to be one of the oldest systems of medicine in India. The Siddhi of this system is based on a combination of ancient medicinal practices and spiritual discipline, as well as alchemy and mysticism. It is believed that it was during the development of the Indus civilization, which flourished between 2500 and 1700 BC. According to this theory, it was to the South of India, where the Dravidians (the speakers of the Dravidian languages), which may have been the original inhabitants of the indus valley, the migrated towards the south.
Siddha medicine seems to be a part of the Tamil culture of the early Tamil books and Tamil is one of the major Dravidian languages). For example, there is celebrated in the Tamil literature, shangama (1st-4th century ce. (a.), among others, noted, the Tolkappiyam (“Ancient Literature”), traktatda spelling, grammar, and poetics, and the Tirukkural (“Sacred Couplets”), a work which is attributed to the Tamil poet and saint to be High.
