Roots are a vital part of every plant and are a must. It lies inside the soil and helps a plan to stand upright and remain in a particular place. One of the main functions of the roots is to absorb water, water is an essential element for carrying out photosynthesis and photosynthesis is crucial because it prepares food for the plant itself and helps it to grow and bear fruits and flowers. The roots also help the plant to absorb the required salt, minerals and other necessities from the soil. Roots use the mechanism of osmosis to absorb water and all the other required products. After being absorbed they are transported throughout the plant by xylem, xylem is a complex tissue which transports water and all other required minerals, xylem consists of dead cells. It also consists of tracheid’s, vessel elements, xylem parenchyma, xylem sclerenchyma and xylem fibers.
