    Gandhi Jayanti

    Gandhiji one of the most prominent figures in the History of India’s freedom struggle. His Birth anniversary 2nd October is celebrated as Gandhi jayanti. It is celebrated as a National Holiday. All of the nation celebrated this day together. All of the Indian people hoisted national flag and give tribute to this great personality. Many programs like debates, seminars, singing and dramas are organized to celebrate this day. There are the details of the life of this legendary person-

    Gandhiji is one of the most famous and influential people of India. He was a great patriotic Indian. He was honoured with the title ” Mahatma “by the people of India. He was born on 2nd October 1869 in a small village of India. His father name was Karamchand and mother’s name is Putlibai. He has two brother and a sister, he was the youngest of all. He is very shy and introvert in nature. At the very young age of 13 , while he is still in school he married to Kasturbai. He went to England for study law in 1890. After his arrival in India, he went to South African for a work of his lawsuit, where she saw the massive discrimination of Indian and African in the society. This incident disturbed him, he extend his study in South African and protest against the bill which denied the right of vote in India. He started a satyagraha in South Africa. His great effort forced the British give the Indian residents more freedom. He became a great political leader there. In January 1914 he returned to India to fight for freedom. He found a Ashram which called Satyagraha Ashram and settled in there. When the Rowlatt act passed in India which prevent many facility of India Gandhiji become active in politics. He became the president of Indian National Congress. His most significant movements are Non- cooperation movement in 1920,Civil disobedience movement in 1939,Dandi March to break the Salt law and most famously Quit India movement in 1942. Gandhiji is believed in the principles of non violence. He also encourage and empower women to took part in the freedom movement. Many times he was arrested and put in jail but it didn’t stop his strong motive to make India independent, finally India became independent on 15 August of 1947. But he didn’t enjoy the freedom as long as he shooted dead on January 30 of 1948 by Nathuram Godse. His legacy is always left behind us. He was given the title of “Father of the Nation” by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, who is his fellow fighter. Though their principles were different from each other, Netaji always respected him and Gandhiji was always affectionate towards him as a son. For his affectionate and loving nature towards everyone he is called as “Bapu ” which means “Father” by Indian.
