Reply To: Do humans give off radiation?

All life on the planet has evolved into the existence of radioactivity, says Michael Short, a professor of Nuclear Science and Engineering at MIT. And then, yes, we emit radiation signal, but "our bodies are equipped to deal with small amounts of radiation," so don't panic, he says.

So how much radiation does humans emit? “I like to put things in terms of what we call a banana-equivalent volume,” Short said. Bananas are high in potassium, he says, providing certain rays.

He says: “Sleeping with a person for eight hours gives you an average of one and a half bananas. “If people are worried, and they ask themselves: should I sleep alone? They should ask themselves: can you be afraid to eat two bananas? No, I didn't think so, ”said Short.
