In August 1947, when the British finally, after three hundred years in India, and the country was divided into two independent nation states: Hindu India and Muslim Pakistan. Immediately, one of the biggest changes in human history, millions of Muslims go to both West and East Pakistan (the latter is now known as Bangladesh), while millions of Hindus and Sikhs headed in the opposite direction. Hundreds of thousands can not do that.
In the Indian sub-continent, to the communities that are next to each other for nearly a millennium, and have attacked each other in a terrible outbreak of sectarian violence, with Hindus and Sikhs on one side and Muslims on the other, and a mutual massacre, as unexpected as it is staggering. In the Punjab and Bengal provinces bordered on the West and East Pakistan, respectively, of the massacre, was very intense, with a mass-murder, arson, forced conversion, mass abductions and brutal violence. About seventy-five thousand women were raped, many of them were broken.
Nishid Hajari, in the North of the Furies ” (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), the full story of the history, and the aftermath thereof, said: “the Gangs of killers set whole villages are on fire, cutting to the deaths of men, women, children, the elderly, and take away young women into rape. Some British soldiers and journalists who witnessed the Nazi death camps claimed that the use of the Casualties were worse: pregnant women with their breasts cut off, and the kids had their stomachs cut-out; the child was found, literally, baked on skewers.”
In 1948, when the great migration came to an end, and within not more than fifteen million people had been plucked up by the roots, as well as between one and two million people. The comparison of the death camps, it is not as bad as it seems. The distribution is the heart of a modern identity in the Indian sub-continent, such as the Holocaust, Jewish identity, and painfully etched into the local consciousness with memories of nearly unimaginable violence. Well-known Pakistani historian, Series, His has referred to as the “central historical event in South-east Asia in the twentieth century” and wrote: “to Define a time that is neither the beginning nor the end, but it continues to have an impact on how the people of the states who do not care about the South pacific to propose to their past, present, and future.”
After the second world War, Britain had been there, just don’t have the means to take control of the largest imperial palace is active, and the output from India, it was messy, rushed, and awkward, and self-made. From the point of view of the contracting colonizers, however, it was in some ways a great success. While the Uk government has long been plagued by violent insurgencies, and the brutal crackdown, the army has not been able to get out of the country, with barely a shot fired, and, with the loss of only seven men. No less unexpectedly, it was the use of another massacre.
