The full form of CFC is Chlorofluorocarbons. They are harmful for the environment because they degrade ozone layer of the earth . Because CFC our ozone layer is depleting. There is a growing concern over ozone depletion and its dangers , and a ban was imposed on the use of CFC’s in aerosol-spray dispensers in the late 1970’s by United States, Canada and the Scandinavian countries. In 1990 , 93 nations agreed , as past of the Montreal Protocol, to end production of ozone depleting chemicals by the end of the 20th century . In 1992, the number has increased to 140, and the time table for ending the production of CFC’s advanced to 1996. Their goal has largely met. We can use HFC’s they pose a less risk that CFC’s because they decompose readily in the atmosphere.
