Modal auxiliary verb is a verb which puts emphasis or intensifies the main verb. In simple words, a modal auxiliary verb can be said as the ‘helper verb’ of the main verb. It denotes certain moods, feelings, possibilities, etc.
For example: You should do your homework in time. ( Here, the modal auxiliary verb is ‘should’ which tells the subject ‘you’ that it is necessary to perform the verb ‘do’)
