It is due to the phenomenon called refraction of light. When a light passes from one medium to another medium then the ray of light tends to ‘bend’. Hence the light coming from the Stars enters the Earth’s atmosphere, medium changes hence the light ray bends. For this reason stars seem to twinkle in the night sky.
