Chandragupta Maurya was the founder of Mauryan Empire which lasted for 150 years from 322 BCE to 180 BCE. Kautilya aka Chanakya or Vishnugupta was the mentor of Chandragupta Maurya .He worte Arthshastra in which he gave “Saptang Theory of State” for Administration of state.

As per “Arthshastra” the currency circulated in Mauryan Empire were punched coins :-‘pana’, ‘ardh-pana’, ‘pada’,’ashta-bhaga’,’ardhapadika’.
