There are innumerable genres in art and in fact, somebody out there might be creating a new one right now! Here are a few different genres in art:
Realism – Closely resembles the subject. Artists aim to capture details with precision and realistic true-to-life manner. Famous realist painter : Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot
Impressionism – Major focus is on the light and colour of the scene. The goal is to convey the atmosphere and mood rather than replicate precise details. Famous impressionist painter: Claude Monet
Abstract Art: In abstract art, the emphasis is on shapes, colours, and forms rather than realistic representation. Famous abstract artist: Agnes Martin
Expressionism: Expressionist artists focus on expressing emotions and feelings through their artwork. This genre often features distorted figures, bold colours, and exaggerated forms to evoke a strong emotional response from the viewer. Famous Expressionist: Edvard Munch
Minimalism: Minimalist art involves simplicity and focuses on the use of minimal elements such as basic shapes, colours, and geometric forms. Famous Minimalist: Anthony Caro<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>
