Bodhidharma was a legendary Buddhist monk who is considered the founder of Zen Buddhism. He is believed to have lived during the 5th or 6th century CE and was born in India. According to tradition, Bodhidharma traveled to China and became the first patriarch of the Shaolin Temple. He is renowned for his teachings on meditation and his emphasis on direct experience and the attainment of enlightenment.
