    Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald is the author of the famous tragedy, The Great Gatsby. He was an American novelist, essayist, and short story writer. Published in 1925, the novel is set in the summer of 1922, which tells the story of affluent and enigmatic Jay Gatsby through the narrator Nick Carraway. Fitzgerald uses the roaring 1920s as a backdrop to examine themes of riches, love, and the American Dream. The book is widely recognized as a masterpiece of American literature because of its nuanced character development and realistic depiction of the Jazz Age.
