The Mughal Empire was located in the Indian subcontinent.
The Mughal Empire was a major Muslim empire that ruled a large portion of the Indian subcontinent from the early 16th century to the mid-19th century. The empire was founded by Babur, a Timurid prince, in 1526 after he defeated the Delhi Sultanate and established his capital in Delhi.
The Mughal Empire expanded over time, and at its peak, it controlled territories from Kabul in the west to Bengal in the east, and from Kashmir in the north to the Deccan Plateau in the south. The core of the Mughal Empire was located in northern India, particularly in the regions of modern-day India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
Some of the major cities and centers of the Mughal Empire included:
Delhi – The capital and political center of the empire.
Agra – A major administrative and cultural center, home to the iconic Taj Mahal.
Lahore – An important city in the northwestern part of the empire, now in modern-day Pakistan.
Fatehpur Sikri – A planned city built by Emperor Akbar, near Agra.
Dhaka – The capital of the Bengal subah (province) in the eastern part of the empire.
The Mughal Empire is renowned for its architectural achievements, administrative reforms, and the patronage of art, literature, and culture during the reigns of emperors like Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jahan, and Aurangzeb. The empire declined in the late 18th century and was eventually absorbed into the British colonial administration in the 19th century.
