The Mughal Empire, which ruled over large parts of the Indian subcontinent from the early 16th to the mid-19th century, was involved in numerous significant battles and military campaigns. Here are some of the major battles fought by the Mughals:

    1. First Battle of Panipat (1526):

      • Fought between the Mughal forces led by Babur and the Delhi Sultanate army led by Ibrahim Lodi.
      • Babur’s use of gunpowder weapons and superior military tactics resulted in a decisive Mughal victory, paving the way for the establishment of the Mughal Empire in India.
    2. Battle of Khanwa (1527):

      • Fought between Babur and the Rajput confederacy led by Rana Sanga of Mewar.
      • Babur’s forces emerged victorious, further consolidating Mughal control over northern India.
    3. Second Battle of Panipat (1556):

      • Fought between the Mughal forces led by Akbar and the Afghan forces led by Hemu.
      • Akbar’s victory in this battle allowed him to secure his hold over the Delhi Sultanate and expand the Mughal Empire.
    4. Battle of Talikota (1565):

      • Fought between the Mughal-led Deccan Sultanate alliance and the Vijayanagar Empire.
      • The Mughal-led forces emerged victorious, contributing to the decline of the Vijayanagar Empire.
    5. Battle of Saraighat (1671):

      • Fought between the Mughal forces led by Aurangzeb and the Ahom Kingdom in Assam.
      • The Mughals were defeated by the Ahoms, who were able to maintain their independence from the Mughal Empire.
    6. Battle of Plassey (1757):

      • Fought between the forces of the Mughal-allied Nawab of Bengal and the British East India Company.
      • The British victory in this battle laid the foundation for their subsequent expansion and eventual control over large parts of the Indian subcontinent.

These are some of the major battles that played a significant role in the rise, expansion, and eventual decline of the Mughal Empire in India. The Mughals’ military prowess and strategic leadership contributed to their dominance over large swaths of the Indian subcontinent for several centuries.
