    The first Mughal emperor was Babur.

    Babur was the founder of the Mughal Empire in India. Some key facts about Babur:

    • His full name was Zahir-ud-Din Muhammad Babur. He was a direct descendant of the Mongol conqueror Genghis Khan.

    • He was born in 1483 in modern-day Uzbekistan and succeeded his father as the ruler of the Fergana Valley at the age of 12.

    • In 1526, Babur defeated the Delhi Sultanate ruler Ibrahim Lodi in the First Battle of Panipat, marking the establishment of the Mughal Empire in India.

    • Babur ruled the Mughal Empire from 1526 until he died in 1530. He was succeeded by his son Humayun as the second Mughal emperor.

    • Babur was a skilled military commander and an accomplished writer. His autobiography, titled “Baburnama”, is considered one of the greatest works of Islamic literature.

    So in summary, Babur was the first Mughal emperor who laid the foundations of the Mughal dynasty that would go on to rule much of the Indian subcontinent for over 300 years.
