Adolf Hitler, also known as Der Führer (German: “The Head”), was the leader of the Nazi Party (from 1920/21) and the chancellor (Kanzler) and Führer of Germany (1933–45). He was born on April 20, 1889, in Braunau am Inn, Austria, and died on April 30, 1945, in Berlin, Germany. From January 30, 1933, he was chancellor, and following President Paul von Hindenburg’s death, he gained the dual titles of Führer and chancellor (August 2, 1934).

Adolf Hitler spent much of his boyhood in Linz, the capital of Upper Austria when his father retired from the state customs office. Throughout his life, it was his favorite city, and he voiced his desire to be buried there.

Hitler despised his father, but he was a loving son to his mother, who died in 1907 after a long illness. Hitler never completed his secondary schooling due to a shaky academic record. He visited Vienna after finishing school and then returned to Linz, where he aspired to be an artist.

He wanted to pursue painting, and he had some talent for it, but he was repeatedly denied admission to the Academy of Fine Arts. He lived a lonely and secluded existence for several years, making a little living by painting postcards and ads and drifting from one municipal hostel to the next.

Hitler relocated to Munich in 1913. In February 1914, he was deemed unfit for Austrian military service due to a lack of physical vigor; however, when World War I broke out, he petitioned Bavarian King Louis III to be allowed to serve, and one day later, he was informed that he would be allowed to join the 16th Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment.

The Nazi Party stagnated as a result of internal strife while Hitler was imprisoned. Following his release, Hitler confronted challenges that did not exist before 1923.

Hitler died on 30th April 1945.
