That’s a great question! The concept of day and night is caused by the rotation of the Earth.

Imagine you have a toy globe or a ball. Now, pretend that you are the Earth, and hold the ball up in front of you. Can you see the top part of the ball? That’s like the part of the Earth where you live.

Now, imagine that you are standing outside in the daytime. As you start to turn the ball slowly, you will notice that the sunlight falls on one side of the ball, making it bright and sunny. This is what we call daytime!

But what happens on the other side of the ball, the part facing away from the Sun? As you keep turning the ball, that side is in shadow, and it becomes dark. This is what we call nighttime!

In reality, the Earth is constantly spinning on an imaginary line called its axis. It takes about 24 hours for the Earth to make one complete spin. This spinning motion is what gives us day and night.

During the day, the side of the Earth facing the Sun receives sunlight, making it bright and warm. We can see everything around us because of the sunlight.

But when the Earth rotates, the side that was facing the Sun moves away, and the opposite side comes into view. Now, the sunlight falls on the other side, making it bright and giving people living there their daytime. That means it’s nighttime for the side of the Earth you’re on.

So, as the Earth keeps spinning, different parts of it experience daytime and nighttime at different times. That’s why when it’s daytime where you live, it might be nighttime in another part of the world.

Isn’t it fascinating how the rotation of the Earth gives us day and night?
