Carbon Dioxide: Plants take in carbon dioxide from the air through tiny pores on their leaves called stomata.
Making Food: Inside the plant’s cells, the captured sunlight energy, water, and carbon dioxide react together in a part of the cell called the chloroplast. This reaction produces glucose, which is a type of sugar that plants use as food.
Releasing Oxygen: As a byproduct of photosynthesis, plants release oxygen back into the air through the stomata. This oxygen is what we breathe and is vital for animals and other living organisms.
Overall, photosynthesis is a process where plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make glucose (food) and release oxygen. It’s like a plant’s way of eating and breathing at the same time.
