National festival
National festivals are the pride of India. The most three important national festivals are- The Republic Day, The Independent Day and Gandhi jayanti. In the national festivals, the government declares national holidays throughout the country. Republic Day celebrated on 26 January, it celebrated the emergence of India as a secular country and the inception and declaration of Indian Constitution. Independence Day is celebrated on 15 August. It celebrated the independence India got from the ruling of British Raj. India had freedom on this day. Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on 2nd October. It is the birth anniversary of the great Indian leader and freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi aka Gandhiji, The Father Of The Nations. Many thought provoking and patriotic activities are done during this day. Many dramas, debates, speeches and plays are performed in school and colleges. Most importantly the tricolor National flag is hosted all over the country and the national anthem is sung by all. On this occasion of national festivals many patriotic movies and programs are played on the television sets. People forget all differences and celebrate these festivals with unity. National festivals based on the principal “Unity is diversity” Which is very important for the secular land of India. These festivals are the backbone of democracy. These festivals give us the message of unity, solidarity and brotherhood which are very important for the progess of a secular country like India.

There are three basic festivals that are of utmost importance and celebrated with great pride in India. They are Independence Day, Republic Day, and Gandhi Jayanti. People celebrate these festivals with much significance as the religious festivals of India. The citizens of India are all drenched in patriotism on these days.
These festivals are celebrated in the form of many different events at various locations in the country. Many companies provide leaves to their employees on these big days. These offices celebrate these occasions a day prior by arranging some stalls for their employees to ease the office atmosphere and get some fun in the office premises. Roads are decorated with tricolor flags all around. Balloons, fairy lights, bands are all draped in tricolor to get the feeling of patriotism in the citizens of the country. In schools, children celebrate these days in the form of fancy dress competitions, essay writing, poem recitation, and many more. Children also participate in the parades that are to be held during these functions. Children are taught to march in the parade professionally carrying our tricolor flag in their hands and then marching down.
In a country full of diversity, all the people come together on these days to celebrate their worth. Some people even go to Red Fort where flag hoisting is done by the Prime Minister of India. Those who cannot go watch the live telecast on their television sets. Now, Gandhi Jayanti has been named Swatch Bharat Abhiyan where people come together and try to clean their roads and take into consideration that they should not litter on the roads.
People celebrate these festivals with great pride and enthusiasm. These festivals are celebrated most importantly to honor our leaders and to draw some inspiration from their unparalleled deeds. Students studying in school also develop patriotism at a very early age.

The following are three national holidays in India: Independence Day, Republic Day, and Gandhi Jayanti
1) INDEPENDENCE DAY – Independence Day, observed on August 15th, celebrates the end of the British two-century colonialism of India in 1947. After a lengthy battle, India was able to break free from the clutches of British control. This day is observed to remember individuals who struggled for our independence, including Mahatma Gandhi, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Sarojini Naidu, Bhagat Singh, and many others. It is also the anniversary of the partition of India and Pakistan. The presidential message, which will be televised throughout the country on the eve of August 15th, will kick off the activities. The prime minister was hailed by the guard of honor when he arrived at New Delhi’s Red Fort. The flag is hoisted, and the national song is sung throughout the country. Even at universities and schools, flag hoisting is practiced.
2) REPUBLIC DAY – Another significant day in Indian history is Republic Day. It commemorates the passage of the Indian Constitution on January 26, 1950, which is a fearful document that depicts the type of nation that India is. The creation of the Constitution was a time-consuming process that took two years and eleven months. The procession begins at Rashtrapati Bhavan and proceeds to Rajpath. Armed troops march towards India Gate, and the President presides over the ceremony, which includes the unfurling of the flag and the singing of the national song. The parade features armed units and tableaus from several states chosen by the minister of defense. The presentation of courage prizes takes place.
3) GANDHI JAYANTI – The 2nd of October marks the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the nation’s father. We remember him for everything he did for the country’s independence. The Prime Minister decorates his Raj Ghat with a garland. Students read poetry, sing songs, and draw pictures of nonviolence at school.
