Social media as grown over the years. It was not given as much of importance as it is given now, in this era. Earlier it was considered as sheer wastage of time. People involved with social media were not treated as deserved until unless they belong to the news department. People back then did believe the news channels and newspapers, but social media as a concept was not yet in main line.
One must wonder, then when did social media actually grow? The answer is right in front of us. Social media platform has grown over the years after the year 2000. It was just after this year when the people made their presence on social media. Over the years since then, there are significant facts we see about social media that existed before and are still active while some facts that are totally new and bold as a concept.
Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, youngsters find them in a whole new space via the social media. These days most popular social media frequently used by almost more or less than 70% population are facebook, instagram and whatsapp. Others apps like the news readers, editing, and snapchat too have grown tremendously.
People all over the world get an easy access to explore different things and get in contact with new people. Some people even have started online business while some earn money via such media apps by providing demanding content. The picture till here looks pretty desirable, until we see the other side of the story, where false information is circulated in order to defame, community feelings are hurt at times intentionally, rules are broken, privacy is broken, threats and hurting messages are floated.
Everything has a boon and a bane, its our job to see the good in the darkest of space and make sure of our safety and security above anything. Freedom needs to be enjoyed with equal or more responsibility.

Social media plays a key role in our life. In the present condition the world is stuck in front of corona viruses and fight back, social media helps us a lot. Our government gives instructions and advices using the social medias. We are in our house in the past one and half years. We can’t go out and met people. But using the social medias, virtually we can do most of all things that we does when we go out. It helps us to have a complete social distance. Social medias is a virtual world and we are living virtually there. We have many friends who won’t see in our life. But we know virtually. By using internet and social medias, we get telemedicine system so that we don’t go to the hospital for treatment. They ensure telemedicine, tele counseling etc.
Our education system and job are also struck. But we found a temporary solution to do it with the help of internet and social medias. For the students, they may not be able to attend the whole classes. But there is a group of website helps them to get the topics and get more classes freely. For job seekers,they can be able to search jobs and apply easily. As spending more time in the house, people tries to make new foods, they approaches the medias to get the recipes for the food. Social media helps us in entertainment. Have games, movies, songs, web series etc. From any language or any time we get it easily.
As like a real world, the virtual world too have many problems. The users don’t know who were monitoring us and take our personal information for their gain. We can see in the news about the social media threats. This is decrease only by our control. Tries to avoiding the sharing of personal information. Don’t choose unwanted messages and friends suggestions. If we trapped in their hands it is very difficult to get out of it.

Social media is an umbrella term. It has a lot of subtopics basically the different ways in which it has become helpful to us. From the traditionl use to connect to people around the world which it was actually started for to it’s advanced uses which are been in our day to day life like marketing, businesss etc. Social media is both a boon and bane for us depending on our uses. Small business owners who cannot have adequate money to invest on renting a shop can make a social media page and advertise from there only. There are a lot of social media pages for the students preparing for their competitive exam like the UPSC, BPSC, SSC banking etc. The housewives who are really good at cooking are able to share their skills and are taking orders by making their social media handles. There are a lot of people, the social media influencers are earnings lakh and crores through sharing their skills on social media. Through social media a person is capable of standing alone in the crowed and speaking without coordinating with any of the media houses. Like for eg- There’s a disaster due to the carelesness of the ministers, any news channel will not speak against the minister as there job will be in the danger but an individual person can take a stand and make a vedio regarding and share it on the social media to let people know the truth no one will be able to harm the person as we live in a democratic country and everyone has the right to express there thoughts. But everything has 2 sides depending on our usage. Teenagers and children come in the influence of the others and get all of there information to an unknown person which can cause a very big problem. Parents should teach there children what are the good and bad aspects of the social media and how it should be used to take it’s full positive advantage.
