When we consider the height of the mountains from sealevel Mount Everest is the tallest. It is approximately 8848.86 meters high! To be frank, it is almost equal to nine kilometers, but as measured from the Earth’s core, Ecuador’s Mount Chimborazo is the world’s highest, standing more than 2,072 meters (6,800 feet) above Everest. Because the Earth bulges in the middle, mountains along the equator are farther from the core. But how did mount everest became so big? To answer this question , we have to dive deeper into tectonic movements and other plate movements .The outer shell of the earth, lithosphere is divided into seven different plates which are: African plate, Antarctic plate, Eurasian plate, Indo-Australian plate, North American plate, Pacific plate and South American plate. These plates undergoes movement which results in the formation of mountains and other phenomenons.Mount Everest formed from a tectonic smashup between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates tens of millions of years ago. This collision is still going on. That is why Mt. Everest is growing each and every minute.
