How external motivation play important role in our life
Each one of us is happy with external rewards, we feel good about getting an A++ on our mark sheet, multiple likes on our Instagram or Facebook make us happy and even anyone who appreciates our performance or praises us for small things bring smile to our faces.
External motivation comes in the form of fame, praise, money, rewards, and grades. This motivation is given by other people who can see the result of our actions. Many times we keep on doing things which is liked by others only for the sake of fame and appreciation. The nature of this motivation is temporary, as it doesn’t satisfy internally so we can’t stick to it for a long time.
Whereas internal motivation comes within, we can feel happiness while doing the work, and when we complete work that makes us happier as compared to the appreciation by others.
External motivation is not a bad thing, but it is helpful for those who need to be motivated to complete a particular task. For example, a student doesn’t like to complete their assignment or homework because of disinterest so at that time external motivation is helpful.
