    Ans. Constitution of India was adopted by the Constitution Assembly on 26th November, 1949. It become effective on 26th January, 1950.

    The main features of Indian Constitution are:

    1. It is in written form and one of the most lengthiest constitution: Unlike Britain’s constitution which is a non written constitution, India’s constitution is a written one and it is one of the most lengthiest in the world.

    2. Preamble: In the starting there is a Preamble, which signifies it’s ideals (Justice, Equality, Secularism, Individual Dignity, Fraternity, and National Unity) and aspirations of the Indian people.

    3. Republic: India is a republic country. It means, people of the country have the freedom to excercise their right to form their own government and to elect the head of the government.

    4. People’s Government: It provides citizen to have a form of government which is of the people, by the people and for the people.

    5. Fundamental Rights: There are six fundamental rights in India’s constitution.

    6. Secularism: It means that every religion is equal, and government should be impartial with every religion.
