The mentor of Chandragupta Maurya was Chanakya, who helped him establish the Mauryan Empire in 321 BCE.
All currency in the Mauryan empire was punched with the royal standard to ensure their validity.
The official currency in Circulation during the Mauryan period was the “karshapana” or “pana”. They were the official mints, issued by the Mauryan administration. It was a silver coin with a standard weight of about 3–4 grams.
