During the Mughal Empire in India (1526-1857), some of the major festivals celebrated included:

    1. Nauroz (New Year’s Day): This was a festival celebrated on the first day of the Mughal calendar, which marked the spring equinox. It was an important celebration that combined Persian and Islamic traditions.

    2. Eid-ul-Fitr: This Islamic festival marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. It was one of the most important holidays during the Mughal rule.

    3. Eid-ul-Adha: Also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice”, this Islamic holiday commemorates the willingness of the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son.

    4. Holi: The vibrant Hindu festival of colors was enthusiastically embraced by the Mughal emperors, who participated in the festivities.

    5. Diwali: The Hindu festival of lights was another major celebration during the Mughal era, with the emperors sometimes hosting grand events and illuminations.

    6. Basant Panchami: This spring festival, celebrated in honor of the goddess Saraswati, was also patronized by the Mughals.

The Mughal emperors, being of Central Asian and Persian descent, incorporated both Islamic and Indian cultural traditions into the imperial festivals, making them elaborate and grand spectacles. These festivals helped forge a unique Mughal court culture that blended diverse religious and cultural elements.
