The transfer of pollen grains from the anther of the stamina to the stigma of a flower is termed as pollination. In pollination, pollen grains can be transferred by various agents like wind water insects and animals.
Pollination can be of two types self pollination and cross pollination.
1) Self pollination- In self pollination the anther from the saman of a flower is transferred to the stigma of a same flower. The process of self pollination occurs in the same flower.
2) Cross pollination- In cross pollination the answer from the stamen of a flower is transferred to the stigma of different flower. The process of cross pollination occurred in between two different flowers.
Pollination is followed by fertilization in plants it is the process of fusion of male germ cells produced by pollen grains with the female gametes present in ovule it gives rise to sahi court which is capable of growing into a new plant. This process happens in both self pollination and cross pollination without any difference.

POLLINATION AND ITS TYPES:
POLLINATION: Pollination is the process of pollen grains being transferred from a flower’s male anther to its female stigma. Any living organism, including plants, has the goal of producing offspring for the next generation.
Animals such as butterflies, birds, and bats, as well as water, wind, and even plants themselves, when self-pollination happens inside a closed flower, are pollinating agents. Within a species, pollination is common. In nature and plant breeding, cross-pollination between species may result in hybrid offspring.
TYPES OF POLLINATION:
SELF POLLINATION: Pollen from a flower’s anther is moved to the stigma of the same flower or a separate flower on the same plant in self-pollination. After that, pollination takes place, and the seed will develop.
This can happen as pollen grains fall directly into the stigma, or it can happen with the help of a pollinator such as a bee, wind, or water.
The flowers of plants that reproduce by self-pollination are usually much smaller.
TYPES OF SELF POLLINATION:
1.Autogamy- When pollination takes place between the same flower.
2.Geitonogamy- When pollination takes place between different flowers but of the same plant.
CROSS POLLINATION: Pollen from the anther of one plant’s flower is passed to the stigma of another plant of the same genus in cross-pollination. After that, pollination takes place, and the seed will develop. When pollen is carried by an insect, water, or the wind, it is transferred. This method of pollination necessitates the presence of two plants of the same species in the vicinity.
Plants that cross-pollinate their flowers have bigger flowers. The stigma on the blooms is normally taller than the stamens, giving the pollen a better chance of spreading to other flowers.
