Preposition tells us about the position of noun in a sentence.It tells us the connection between two nouns.Prepositions are also called as position words as it tells us about the position of someone or something.
Prepositions use phrases or words to connect or form a sentence. Preposition are of three types:
Simple -at,by,for,from,in,of,off,on,out,till,through,to,up,with.
Compound-
Above,across,besides,around,between,inside,outside,without,into,before.
Phrase-
According to, By way of, In favour of, in reference to, in spite of, instead of .
Simple Prepositions have 1 syllable
Compound Prepositions have 2 syllables.
