Every house has many types of electrical appliances. This may be electrical bulbs, refrigerator , washing machine, air cooler, ceiling fan etc. Many of these appliances are costly a washing machine costs approximately minimum six thousand rupees. If a sudden fluctuation in electrical input happens, it would cause the appliance to jeopardize and not work anymore. Maybe if some short circuit occurs it may even cause an explosion and electric shock to the user. So it is necessary to keep the appliances from such dangers. A sudden electric input may even causes the whole house to burn down into ashes. It is in this context fuse wires come into action. It is specially designed with an alloy of lead and tin . The speciality of the fuse wire is that it has a very low melting point. The melting point of fuse wire is approximately 200 degree celsius . If the temperature increases beyond that , the fuse wire would break causing a block in the electrical supply . We all know that when electricity passes through a conductor it creates heat energy. So if a sudden short circuit or overload occurs , the temperature increases drastically . This would lead to the breaking of the circuit . Thus protecting the appliances connected on that circuit.
