A fraction, or halfway range, is employed to represent a locality of an entire. Fractions carries with it 2 numbers: a dividend (which is on top of the line) and a divisor (which is below the line).

The divisor tells you the amount of equal elements into that one thing is split. The dividend tells you ways several of those equal elements ar being thought-about. Thus, if the fraction is equation of a pie, the divisor five tells you that the pie has been divided into five equal elements, of that three (numerator) ar within the fraction. Sometimes, it helps to think about the contrast (the middle of a fraction) as that means “out of.” In alternative words, equation conjointly means that three out of five equal items from the complete pie.
