Who is officially credited with the invention of the light bulb? What would our life be if there was no light bulb invented?

Light bulb is one of the the most revolutionary inventions in the history of mankind. It has become an essential part of our lives now. We cannot imagine our life without the light bulb and thanks to to sir Thomas Alva Edison for inventing the light bulb. Edison in 1879 patented electric light bulb. But it is injustice to give credit to only sir Edison because many scientists help them in this way by inventing electric lamps, electricity etc. Without light bulb the history of humankind would have been dark as there would have been no nightlife. Light bulb are Revolutionary because they transformed human lives in many ways. They helped in navigation, they also helped in extending the working hours and what not.
