Labour Day is intended to honor the labor movement’s hard work and accomplishments. This is a single day dedicated completely to the working class. This day is observed on a different day in several nations. However, in most nations, this day falls on May 1st, which also happens to be International Workers’ Day.
The origins of Labour Day may be traced back to the emergence of industrialization. These days, the worker class is exploited by industrialists. They demanded a lot of labor from them yet paid them very little. Laborers were compelled to labor for 10-15 hours a day under extremely difficult conditions. Those who worked in chemical plants, mines, and other comparable settings suffered greatly.
As a result, laborers established a trade union and went on strike. They also conducted demonstrations and rallies. Finally, the government listened to their plea and cut the working day to eight hours. As a result, a special day was set aside to recognize the achievements of this class.
Labor Day is a major holiday in many countries throughout the world, including India. Here are some of the reasons why it is so important to people.
