What is Afforestation? & Why is It Important?

What is afforestation? What is the usefulness of afforestation?

What is Afforestation? Why is it important?

The practice of planting trees on land is known as afforestation.. Also, it means growing trees on the abandoned land.

USEFULNESS

1) Supply of forest products

Planting trees on previously unproductive land guarantees that needed items continue to be available. Using natural forests as a source of energy might be risky. Because of government and environmental policies, it is also unpredictable. Creating new woods also provides the community with vital resources such as feed, fruits, firewood, and other resources. Afforestation not only makes resources available but also assures that they are sustainable in the future.

2) Soil erosion prevention

In desolate terrain, soil erosion is a typical concern. On a windy day, the barren ground is not the ideal place to be. Strong winds blow through barren terrain, carrying big particles of dirt and causing soil erosion as well as lowering air quality. Winds are slowed by trees, which reduces their effect and capacity to transport large dirt particles. Tree roots help securely keep the soil together during flooding, ensuring that the soil remains in place.

The effect of raindrops on the ground is also reduced by tree leaves and branches, avoiding water drop erosion. Farmers will have fertile soil to raise crops if the soil is kept in situ. Landslides are less likely in securely held soil, especially in steep and mountainous areas.

3) Stabilize the climate

Planting trees is a tried and true method of altering dry and semiarid environments. Rainfall is more common in areas with more trees; therefore, planting trees is an excellent strategy to regulate the climate. As the world’s only natural air conditioners, trees also lessen the greenhouse effect, avoiding higher temperatures.

4) a Better quality of air

Trees have a critical function in air purification. People who live in locations with trees are less prone to suffer from breathing problems. Through photosynthesis, trees purify carbon dioxide and provide oxygen. Trees not only remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, but they also remove greenhouse gas emissions. They also trap dirt particles in the air, improving the quality of the air.

Afforestation is nothing but planting trees. Planting the trees on a particular land or the land that is abandoned.

Afforestation is very useful to prevent and maintain the oxygen levels. Due to deforestation, many of the trees are being cut, and the oxygen supply has been reduced very drastically reduced. Afforestation will help to maintain the oxygen levels in the atmosphere and help the individual and the world to be healthy all the time. Oxygen is the minimum amount needed for an individual to survive on Earth. If there is no oxygen, then which will cannot live or survive. When there is no O2, it is equally difficult for the animals to survive.

It also helps to maintain good forests. Deforestation, that is cutting down the trees, makes the land abandoned and the tree life less abundant. When an individual takes a step forward to plant trees, that is afforestation, a good number of trees will be grown and the forests will be developed.

The most important thing for the animal’s survival is trees that give shelter and plants for food. When the trees are being cut, some of the animals find no shelter and sometimes no food to eat. When afforestation takes place, animals will find good shelter and also good food to eat.

Afforestation means planting more and more trees in our surroundings. Or afforestation is a positive aspect to save our planet. Afforestation is generally considered where planting is done on a large scale.

Now let’s see the usefulness of afforestation:-

1. Decreases global warming

By planting lots of trees, we decrease the level of global warming. As plants use carbon dioxide and give out oxygen and carbon dioxide is the main gas that causes air pollution as well as global warming.

2. Purifies air

If the level of carbon dioxide decreases, the level of oxygen will increase and thus the air will get purified. We are thus able to inhale pure air.

3. Will be the habitat of many organisms

Trees and plants are the habitat of many organisms like birds, rodents, and snakes. This will develop community care. Many organism get their shelter.

4. No more climate change

An increase in temperature will increase humidity and temperature. People are facing extreme hot weather. So afforestation will ultimately decrease it.

5. Brings rain

Plants and trees will ultimately bring rain and keep the temperature of the Earth constant. Also melting of glaciers will somehow decrease.

There are a number of uses of afforestation. So do plant a lot of trees. Save your environment and save your life too.

Hope you will be satisfied with my answer.

Thank you!!
