Importance of Family Planning in India

Discuss why family planning is important in India.

Importance of Family Planning in India

India is the world’s seventh largest country with a population of 1.3 billion, and the total world population is 7 billion. So here we can compare the population of India and the world we can see that India has a huge population then it should be.

Why is India India populated?

During the time of Gandhi, the Raj Congress raised a slogan ‘hum do hamare do’. This is one of the biggest reasons for the overpopulation in India. The second reason is a lack of education. People are not educated enough to understand that if they are bringing a life into this word, they have the responsibility to nourish them properly and give them their basic rights. That is education, clothing, proper living, and proper nutrition. In one family if we see there are 3-4 childrens, and the family is a middle class family, of course they will bent under the line of poverty. As taking responsibility for 3 or 4 children, when you have a uniform income, is not at all possible, you need to give them all the facilities that any other child requires. So this is the reason that most of the population is living in slum areas and the backward areas, villages. Because of a lack of money, they do not take responsibility for educating their child, especially the girls. and sometimes they just kill their girls before birth and may practice child marriage to get rid of their responsibilities. So, before giving birth to a child, parents should make sure that they are capable of taking responsibility for a child and giving them a happy life.

What are the effects of overpopulation and the need for family planning?

Because of overpopulation, there is so much inequality, crime , unemployment, and uneducated people. As when you are, you never get discovered because there are so many numbers. Except for some places, discrimination is everywhere in matters of caste, religion, gender, etc. Because of improper family planning, the families go into debt, as they are not capable of handling the expenses of their child. Because of the lack of education, a huge number of people face unemployment, and they go on a path of crime to earn money.

So family planning is important not only to control the population of the country but also to maintain the peace in the country and to put a stop at the wrong practices.

India is the second most populous country in the world, and soon, according to the global statistics, it is going to be the world’s most populous country. India constitutes 3,286,927 km of land, and with a huge population of over 133 crores of citizens, it results in a very high population density of 382 people living per square kilometer.

With this ever-increasing population, the existing citizens are mostly deprived of even necessities such as proper food and clear water to drink. Following this, there is a lack of jobs for the working class, and due to the high job demand, the employees are exploited with more working hours and less payment. There is a lack of living space. People below the poverty level face huge problems as they live a very congested and unhygienic life.

Due to this huge population, it is also difficult to control pollution and managing such a huge mass together becomes a mammoth task for the government and organizations, and thus many people are deprived from the facilities provided by the government.

One thing which can reduce all of these is family planning, its high
time for us to keep an eye on birth control and adopt required measures as if
this continues soon, we will be facing very tough situations
