Why has the idea of power-sharing emerged? What is its need in a democracy?

The idea of power-sharing contradicted the notions of different political powers. For a long time, it was believed that all the powers of government should rest in one person or group of people in one place. It was argued that if the decision-making power were dispersed, it would not be possible to make quick decisions and implement them. These views have changed with the advent of democracy. Now, power sharing is an important concept of democracy. Promotes degrading values (i) It helps to reduce the chances of conflicts between social groups. (ii) It ensures the stability of political order. (iii) The very spirit of democracy. Everyone has a say in the development of public policy.
