Need of Vitamin Minerals

Why does our body need vitamins and minerals? What purpose do they serve?

Need of Vitamin Minerals

Since childhood, we have been told that we should have a balanced diet to have a healthy lifestyle. A balanced diet includes all the nutrients essential for our well-being, like carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and roughage. All these nutrients have some important roles in our bodies.

Vitamins and minerals are necessary for our body as they have hundreds of roles to perform in our body. It is generally said that having too much of anything can harm us in different ways. Similarly, having too much of these nutrients may also harm us in one way or the other way. Having a healthy diet remains the best way to get adequate amounts of vitamins and minerals.

Every day, our body generates skin, muscles, and bones. It churns out the red blood cells that transport nutrients and oxygen to various body parts. It also transmits nerve signals through the brain and body pathways. It also forms chemical messengers that commute from one organ to another, resulting in the instructions that help sustain our lives. And for this, our body requires some raw materials, which include around 30 vitamins, minerals, and some other components that our body certainly needs but cannot manufacture on its own.

Vitamins and minerals can prove to be very essential for our body. They help in converting food into energy and also repair cellular damage. They help us in healing wounds and also by boosting our immune system.

Vitamins and minerals are required in fewer amounts by our body, so they are also named micronutrients. People who fail to have those few amounts of vitamins and minerals end up having some serious diseases like scurvy, blindness, rickets, etc.

One should regularly consume a proper and healthy balanced diet in order to keep their bones and muscles functioning properly.
