Nowadays, media is growing more in terms of series than movies or other fictions, and they have got immense popularity among many people especially among the teenagers. Series started developing more in this lockdown phase where our world is busy and tired combatting the deadly virus. As every other thing comes with its own merits and demerits same happens in the case of series,

Advantages of series:

1. Series are generally based on broad aspect for example science fiction, economy, environmental crisis they cover great minute details and thus helps in building knowledge through a form of recreation.

2. Series connect to our daily lives a lot, and thus, we human beings tend to understand many problems that we previously denied to accept.

3. Series spread social awareness in a very vivid and descriptive manner.

Disadvantages of series:

1. They are long; often, students spend a lot of time, and this hampers their education.

2. Series become addictive, though they come divided in episodes but people generally fail to control themselves as they create a greater amount of curiosity and it ends up that they cannot concentrate in other things till they complete the particular series.

3. There are many raw information shared through series which are not appropriate for a particular age group of students.

All things in moderation are good. Media and its usage plays a main role in the present condition of our life. Last year, first we had a lockdown situation. Everyone at home can’t go out side. Have much free time. After completing the household duties or other work, we just enjoy our leisure time. Most of us spend it on media. At that time, web series became more popular. Some people are against television serials, but they are interested in web series. There is no difference between them. Korean and Chinese drama series have become more popular among young people, including students. Most of the series have more than a hundred episodes. We cannot stop it when we start to watch. So, we try to watch more series and share them with our friends. After three to four months of lockdown time, some online classes start. But with the addiction to web series, we can’t attend the classes properly. In class, too, we start to think about the next episode or the hero and heroine.

Usage of social media leads to some health issues. Most people use mobile phones to use medias for our comfort. Eyes become unconditional with the use of these small-screened phones.

This is an interesting question.

There could be various opinions on this if seen with large perspective. However, what it depends on is the type of content you see, and the amount of time you spend on it in a day.

People enjoy watching different types of content like horror, terror, romance, thrill, and many more. But as a matter of fact, it is researched that spending too much time on specific shows supposedly horror, can make you sulk all day while at the same time a fun show can make you feel joyous all day.

There is no inhibition on anyone’s choice. What needs to change is the time you spend watching shows and series per day. Channelizing the schedule is very important.

Watching such shows and movies, so-called binge watching, should have a designated time in your day. An hour or two is good and healthy. It must not be vice versa, where you spend all day binge-watching.
