Hemoglobin, And what Is It Composed of?

Hemoglobin is a protein present in the blood of animals, especially in the Red Blood Cells (RBCs) of vertebrates. They are used in transporting oxygen to the tissues.

This hemoglobin creates a bond with the oxygen (travelling through tissues), which is highly unstable. When it is in an oxygenated state, it has a bright red color, while in a reduced state, it has a purplish blue color.

Lack of oxygen in hemoglobin can cause hazardous diseases like sickle cell anemia.

This particular disease is caused by a lack of oxygen.

I hope this answer helps!
