As I speak, my colleague is on a video call in the next room, discussing an important project. The office printer is whirring as it produces a stack of documents. Meanwhile, the coffee machine is brewing a fresh pot of coffee, filling the air with its aroma.
In this example, the present continuous tense is used to describe actions that are happening in the moment, such as “am sitting”, “is shining”, “is blowing”, “is discussing”, “is whirring”, and “is brewing”. The present continuous tense indicates that these activities are currently taking place as the speaker describes the scene
