Oh, the French Revolution? Yeah, that was a huge deal—total game-changer for France and, like, the whole world. It started in 1789 (so yeah, late 18th century, I got that right!) and basically turned everything upside down.
So, France was in deep financial trouble—like, bankrupt from wars (including helping the Americans fight the British, which, irony, right?). Then, boom—Storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789 (now France’s national holiday!). That was basically the people grabbing power by force.
